Symptoms of Infertility- What are They and How to Detect Them Now
The main symptom of infertility, of course, is being unable to get pregnant. Apart from that, there are other symptoms of infertility and clues as to the causes of infertility.
Women may suffer from irregular menstrual cycles as on of the symptoms of infertility. Men might experience an irregularity in hair growth or decreased libido and poor sexual performance. These symptoms would be indicative of hormonal problems.
If you are a woman over thirty years old and have missed your menstrual cycle for the last six months, see a doctor now. Otherwise, couples should attempt to get pregnant for about a year before considering seeing a physician about infertility.
You might want to see your doctor sooner than a year if you are a woman with pelvic pain and painful periods have become frequent.
Sometimes the problem is simply in the planning. It may not be so much that you can’t get pregnant as that you are not getting pregnant. It is important for a woman to know the cycles of her ovulation and to be sure she is accurate in its scheduling. A man should do all he can to keep his sperm healthy by staying fit, not over indulging in alcohol, and not smoking at all. You both should eat healthy foods and keep stress to a minimum.
What You Should Do If You Discover Symptoms of Infertility
Still, if you feel one of you is exhibiting symptoms of infertility, you should see your doctor. Infertility is all too common in today’s world. Many times all it takes to correct the problem is a simple adjustment of lifestyle or setting straight a hormonal imbalance. Of all the couples that have some degree of the symptoms of infertility, only 3% actually get to the aggressive stages of infertility treatment such as in vitro fertilization.
Conception is far from an immediate process. Before you get too concerned with the possibilities of infertility consider that most couples must have unprotected sex for a period of eight to ten months before conception. This is the average. That is why it is a good idea to wait for a year, unless you have irrefutable symptoms, to see your doctor about the possibilities of infertility. Most physicians will recommend that you have unprotected sex for at least eight months before becoming too concerned about infertility.
Another key element is to avoid stress. In this day and age, that is a tall order and now you are adding the stress of infertility concerns to your already stressful life. This may be a good time to consider a trip away from home. Many couples conceive their children while on a trip from home. You could get away for a weekend on a romantic excursion to the mountains or the seashore.
If you can take more time, maybe you would want to consider a cruise or a vacation somewhere you always wanted to go, but never took the time for the journey. Now is a good time to get away from it all, just the two of you. Pretty soon your traveling options will be reduced because of that newborn in your lives. Refresh yourselves and get away from the stress of your daily lives. The romantic aspect of the trip won’t hurt your efforts at conception either.
So, while it is good to be cognizant of the symptoms of infertility, don’t get carried away with them. Relax and enjoy one another and sooner than you think, you will be enjoying the birth of your child as well.
